This is Too Much!
Sensory Overload and Meltdowns with kids on the Autism Spectrum
Sensory Overload and Meltdowns with kids on the Autism Spectrum
About the Book
Bright lights. Loud noises. Scratchy clothes. Busy rooms. Sometimes the world can simply feel like too much.
For many children on the autism spectrum, everyday sensory experiences can quickly become overwhelming. When the brain is overloaded with too much sensory input, even simple situations can lead to anxiety, shutdowns, or meltdowns.
This Is Too Much offers a compassionate look into the experience of sensory overload through the eyes of an autistic child, helping families better understand the challenges sensory sensitivities can create in daily life.
Inspired by real experiences from my own family’s autism journey, this story encourages parents, caregivers, educators, and children to recognize sensory triggers, build understanding, and help autistic children learn healthy ways to self-regulate and feel safe in overwhelming situations.
My prayer is that this book helps families see their child’s world with greater compassion while also providing hope, encouragement, and practical understanding along the way.
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
